Lesson - Unto Ashes

Her tears are falling like the ice of Hell

And echo as they fall

Like the voices in her head

That plague and slowly drive her mad

Close your eyes, close your eyes

And shut the world out from your mind

Her nights are filled with dreamless sleep

She hopes and prays for their release

And dream about your world could be

Why are the days so long?

Why do the nights collapse?

Why is my throat so dry?

Why can’t you sleep at night?

Why?

She dreams her world is full of life

And warm, her tears begin to melt

Running freely down her face

She flies and find her peace at last

Close your eyes, close your eyes

And scream as you come crashing down

She wakes in cold sweat, breathing fast

She lives but broken she remains

Close your eyes, close your eyes

And dream of when you’ll fly away

I’ve learned things that fly must all crash down again
