he pulled the sheets off from the stars and made the earth spin toward the sun

and when the fire hit the clouds it took ten years off his life

hands were shaking at his side when he pulled out the gun and said goodbye

the shots flew back and forth and the crowd covered their eyes

and when the noise was over dirt flew by with dust and spite
