I wake up this morning

All soaking wet

'cause I had been dreaming

That you were dead

I heard the rain fall

So I’d stay in bed

Thinking some more of the dream that I had

The last time I saw you

You waved me goodbye

I stood in the hallway

With tears in my eyes

I hope on your way there

Before you arrive

You know that you’ve already taken a life

I lived my life in vain

There’s nowhere I can stay

Since I lost you

I prayed that the winter

Would carry me through

But each day your picture

Reminds me of you

You sent me a postcard

From where you’re deployed

It read «I'll be home soon, my darling don’t cry»

I woke up this morning

And when the phone rang

I was shaking bad

I ran down the hallway

For good news I’d pray

A voice said «I'm sorry your son died today»
