Married a sailor today

Soon he is going away

An albino blackbird

Nests by her bedside in sympathy

Waits at the window at night

The light from the lighthouse is bright

It fills her with warm nostalgia

It’s all that she has of him

All the girls who knocked say «Come out to play»

All of the boys in the town woo her with wildberry flowers

Her lily-white charm

Just like the bird who’s keeping her calm

Will soon fly away

Letters so seldom appear

Her hair’s turning grey with the fear

Some say she’s insane, they say he’s to blame

Still she waits for him

All the girls who knocked say «Rise from the bed»

Now all the boys in the town mourn her with wildberry flowers
