I am runnin' scared.

A tried and tested cache of perfect answers strands me suddenly unprepared.

And I can’t help but care.

I watch as everything that I once clung to

is wrenched from my grasp, flung into thin air.

I’m caught unaware.

I will stumble, will I fall?

I’ll be humbled, will I crawl?

I am broken, will I be healed?

I am beaten, am I torn?

I’m alive, but nothing more.

Don’t know when to fight

when a lifetime’s worth of what seemed so wrong

suddenly blends in with what seemed right.

And it’s so far from sight,

I watch as everything once in the darkness

is strangled, pulled and dragged into the light.

It all seems too bright.
