By the foot the mountain

My forebears recount

Stood a hovel forlorn down by the bay

And at the edge of the sky

There’s a fire as they fly

By the misty and magic break of day

Home bound

To old ground

They return from the east in rain and thunder

Unconcerned to the north with trade and plunder

And so many fell

We built mounds where they dwell

For the empire of the north

Far back east and down south

Whisperings, word of mouth

They found riches untold from far and wide

And on the isle in the lake

They left wealt in their wake

And a great sense of welldeserved pride
